Monarch Mountain seems to be opening Nov. 25th 2009 for the season. Monarch is located 15-20 miles west of Salida. If your looking for a local place to get great powder and terrain, come check out Monarch Mountain.

I've been on the mountain 6 times since they have opened. I have heard that they have the biggest base in the area. Of course Im thinking further south might have good bases too. It has been great out there. New Years weekend was pretty busy but still only waited in line for no longer than 10 min.
